January’s a pretty slow time for movies, so now’s a good time to start watching some of the films from last year you might have missed, or dive back into your backlog of classics. To help you out, Amazon and Target are both having buy two, get one free sales, which means you can stock on movies while you wait for the year to get busy.
Amazon’s B2G1 free sales are confusingly marketed as buy three, get one free, but rest assured it’s a traditional B2G1 free sale. Simply add three eligible movies to your cart and the lowest priced item will be free at checkout. Target, of course, has the same sale going.
The sale includes 2019 hits like Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Avengers: Endgame, Ready or Not, and Hobbs & Shaw, the super fun Fast & Furious spin-off.
Some of the eligible movies are steeply discounted already, adding even more value. Detective Pikachu, one of my favorites from 2019, is down to $10. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, one of the most stylish animated movies ever made, is also discounted to $10. If you’re more into live-action Spidey, Spider-Man: Far From Home is $15. A few brilliant Studio Ghibli movies are also part of the promotion, including Spirited Away for $15 and Princess Mononoke for $16.
All told, the promotion features close to 4,000 Blu-rays and DVDs. Amazon doesn’t typically reveal end dates for its sales, but Target’s runs through January 25, so you probably have have a few days to grab everything you want. As it’s a mix and match sale, you can choose games and books as well. So if you don’t see three Blu-rays you want, don’t forget to browse the games side of the sale as well. We’ve picked some of our favorite Blu-rays below, and you can browse the entire buy two, get one free promotion at Amazon.
